  • Spring 2025 | Golem WIP 4

    Due before class (6:00pm): (02/26/25)

A "Work in Progress" (WIP) assignment in digital sculpting refers to an intermediate stage of a sculpting project where you present your ongoing work before reaching the final completed piece.

In a WIP assignment, you are required to share your progress, demonstrate your sculpting skills, and receive feedback from your instructors or peers to refine your work further.

***This Final WIP should focus on polishing up your overall sculpt, refining the overall details, proportions, shapes, and getting ready for your Final deliverables. This is the time to get in any tertiary details, clean up edges, generally making sure that you have a successful deliverable for the Final.

***Many of you, per class Monday 02/24/25, were behind a bit on your Golem sculptures, this deliverable should address those concerns I spoke of in class as well moving forward to final deliverabl items. Some of my concerns were: attention to shape and proportions, basic refinement and details: rocks should look like rocks, ZRemesh/SubDivide/Project details from high resolution Dynamesh, overall organization of ZTools and getting in the rest of the missing geometry that should have been present since the Block In.

Answer this question: Are you caught up? If not, what task(s) do you have left to do and do you have a plan in place to complete these task(s)?

Include your name in the post!

    Deliverables:
    • An Image of your 2D Concept Art Reference (.png)
    • Turnaround Renders:
      • You are uploading your compiled Photoshop renders utilizing BPR from ZBrush posted directly inline of your UIW3D Forums post. (.png)
      • Minimum Views (Front, ¾ front, Side, ¾ Back views)
    • Two Renders Showing Highest and Lowest Levels of Subdivision levels. (¾ front, ¾ Back views)

I'm not entirely caught up but I'm pretty close. I plan to refine some parts of the sculpt, re-project, add in any last color/material adjustments, and put in snow details for the Golem in the computer labs over the weekend as needed.

I am caught up. I adressed the concerns regarding its proportions to the best of my ability and fixed the size of its head. I plan to continue painting, adding tertiary, and hopefully do the z sphere rig to capture a dynamic pose.

I'm not done yet but I am pretty caught up. I'm still missing coloring and need to tweak some details. I am also still missing the candle wicks/flames, which I haven't done yet since I had a question regarding them.

I am not finished yet, however I pretty much like the way it is coming out. I am missing some grass/moss, as well as some clean ups and details.

I think I'm pretty much caught up, made some edits to the body to make it look more like the reference, as well as fixed the Projection and Re-meshing. I only need to work more on the materials and color, as well as some more detailing.

I'm not caught up, I was focused catching up on the rock skull and was only able to optimize parts of my golem. I still need to add the etched details, polish some of the trim, and prepare to color and pose. A lot of work is left to do.

My plan is to set mini goals each day this weekend to hopefully get this piece where I want it. Thursday I'll etch in all the details/holes not in my model currently and polish. Friday I'll begin coloring and continue polishing that throughout the weekend. Saturday and Sunday I'll create a basic little stand. Monday will be for final details/fixes.

I think I'm caught up, of course everything can be tweaked or added such as the symbols on his banner. I plan on doing that over the weekend and asking for anymore critiques so I can make those changes before the final

Personally, I think I'm a little behind, my boots throw me off and I still haven't had the chance to model in the flower. I will be trying my best in the labs this weekend to get this done the way I think it should be before Mondays wip with color. Click image for larger version

I think I have some catching up to do. I have slight tweaks I need to do to make the shapes look good. I still got to add more armor scratches. add color and add armor decay and green moss on the armor.

I am nearly caught up, I Zremeshed everything and added noise. I ran out of time to do the bag, moss, and place alphas thus far, but I know I have enough time to do them over the weekend.

I think I am caught up now as I made sure that I got projecting down. I need to further my terciary detail as I'm only scratching the surface currently. The Shield still needs to be finished.
