Assignment: due Monday 09/30 NOON AND IN CLASS
Please post on this board a new reference photo of yourself (or a volunteer that you will direct,) face only.
ART, according to 2005 Marvel's Newcomer of the Year 7th place winner, MIKE CHOI, is deliberately and purposefully making someone feel how you want them to feel.
The PRIMARY purpose of your reference, and the drawing you make from it, is to make the viewer feel FEAR.
The SECONDARY purpose is to have a reference that is as easy to draw as possible given your comfort levels (angle, glasses, hair etc) but also obvious things like making sure it's clear and big enough, and you haven't folded it in half.
Like I said in class, it's not going to be easy, given the purpose of these references, you can't use anything other than the face, and you can't use shadows, so it's ALL going to be in the angle and in the expression. Let's really put some THOUGHT into this, that's what I'm mostly hoping for, .
Post them on here by noon, and THEN bring a print out to class. If you CAN try to make a stab on your drawing before class without me hovering uncomfortbly over your shoulder that would be great, but NOT required. All of you have been making pretty solid potatoes and initial Tomb Raider 1 cuts.
