For my personal project, I want to create a weapon loadout system with customization, a la the Gunsmith system from Call of Duty, albeit not as in-depth. The system would allow for the player to select a primary weapon (AR, SMG, shotgun, sniper, LMG, etc.), a secondary weapon (pistols), and a melee (knife, machete, axe, etc.) for their base loadout. From there the player can modify their guns (optics, muzzle attachments, grips, magazines, lasers, etc.) and deploy into a test map where they can use their weapons after customizing their loadout. The game will also feature basic gunplay mechanics like shooting, reloading, fire rate, fire modes, recoil, and spread.
