    Name of Game: Genshin Impact

    Game Studio: Hoyoverse

Say what you want about Genshin Impact, it is an undeniable fact that the soundtrack is unfathomably beautiful. I have been playing this game since 2021 and have been around to witness the slow decline in the game' quality but the one thing that has managed to stay consistent is the music. Genshin genuinely has some of the most beautiful instrumentals I have ever heard. Hoyoverse has been able to hold a number of orchestra concerts because of it.

Part of Genshin's initial charm was that each of the nation's in game are inspired by real world cultures. This can be seen in character design, story elements, food healing, in game events, boss enemies, geography, and of course the music. Unfortunately, as the game has progressed and we reach nations that are inspired by cultures that have not been represented so kindly in the past, we see Genshin take the same tone deaf, stereotyping approach to representing culture. Except for the music. The music has time and time again reflected the true beauty of these nations and the cultures they derive from. Even when the design team fails to represent us, we can always count on the music department to do us justice. Even when Yu-peng Chen departed from Genshin's sound team, they still managed to produce beautiful pieces.

With all that being said, the music is truly just something to be appreciate. I could just open the game and listen to the music while exploring for hours. There's a certain romance to some tracks that really tug at my heart and make me grow wistful. When I have trouble sleeping, or want to enjoy a long car ride, I'll pull up my Genshin playlist and romanticize my life. Everyone has listened to video game music pretending they are the main character at some point. Genshin's music does that for me.

Here are some of my favorite tracks:

Say My Name by Yu-Peng Chen https://youtu.be/LVqyrKUia58?si=xr1CjENP1b4CaBVZ

    Lover's Oath by Yu-Peng Chen https://youtu.be/3CV4yrXm9qI?si=z-LHPHB_o859eX9X

Moonlike Smile by Yu-Peng Chen https://youtu.be/7b4obknFj4c?si=sN3dnlwcoZmotVpU

Some honorable mentions I also wanted to write about:

Stardew Valley - Very cute and beautiful soundtrack I enjoy listening to when I'm walking around campus. I love the Fall and Winter songs.
Life is Strange - The kind of music I like to listen to when the weather calls for it. My favorite is 'To All of You'. Shoutout to Syd Matters.
NiGHTS into Dreams - Incredibly nostalgic for me and has helped my get through finals more than once. My favorites are 'A Peaceful Moment' and 'Nights and Reala'.
