Describe game play and mechanics:
The way you play poker is each person gets two cards, and the dealer places cards down five cards. With this you're trying your best to trick the person into thinking you have the best hand that matches the cards the dealer placed down. So, if you don't match the deck, you lose but if your cards match you win. How you win it based off the hand, so there is a rank of poker hands, it goes low, 1 pair, 2 pair, 3 of a kind, straight, flush, full house, 4 of a kind, straight flush, and the highest being a Royal Flush. Your goal is wanting a royal flush cause then you'll have the best hand in the game. You play around until someone wins, and normally this game is played with money so until someone wins all the money. Once you win you can play again you go home with your winning hand.
Describe strengths & weaknesses of art & design:
With this I feel like some strengths of the game are being good at tricking people and understanding how to play your cards right. Understanding the card rank you need to win is important, so knowing how to play the cards right and understanding this type of game is a major strength to 7 have a lot better chance of winning. Getting people to place the card and say they're out before you do so you're able to win a major part of this game, but with that I feel the weakness is when you get stuck tricking people or not playing the card to the full advantage. Not being good at tricking people that you have a good hand, will have you losing at this game, and if playing for real, losing loss of money. This is a type of game that would take a lot of practice to get good at it.
What made it fun?
I think I really enjoy turning to figure out who had a good hand, since people can lie about it, they have a good set of cards, or if they are about to trick you into giving up your cards. It took a while to get used to playing the games, since I’ve never played poker before, but it was lot of fun. The thriller of winning or being able to match up the cards to have the best set is nice, people trying to trick you into giving up the cards but for you to have the better cards was fun. It was nice being able to bond with my friends while we played this game since only one of us known how to play the game, so being taught how to play and then trying to win on your first try is fun. This is something I would for sure play again, just to try and get better at it. It was fun seeing everyone's playing styles, it seemed like we all played in a different way even though we were playing the same game. This game would be something that I would play again, and hopefully I will win the next time.
Now that you’ve played it, Why would this game be considered influential? How does it fit into the evolution of games?
This game is a very influential game, Poker is a game I feel lit known for its reputation for gambling and due to that it's influential. It's a game that seems to be quickly addicting, and the thriller of being able to trick people into giving up their cards so you can win everything seems fun to some people. Being able to hide the fact you're lying to others about your cards, staying cool to win the game. It fits in the evolution of games, since it at a tabletop game, it can be played for fun and used for family bonding and game nights, or it can be used for gambling and high state game play, this game is something that can be used in both ways. It was probably the basis for a lot of new games nowadays, with being able to understand how to read people's faces to see if they're lying, or tricking people to put down the cards to make them lose, it is a still that can be used in many games now. Uno is a game that has a different idea, but you can use the same kind of techniques to win the game.
