  • Nicholas Fite - Project Proposal #3

I would like the recreate the 1976 arcade game Night Drive in Unity Engine Version 6. I want to remake the gameplay with steering wheel controls (I have a steering wheel and will make control support as well) and make it look realistic. Like you're driving down a dark dirt road.

Hmmm. Interesting. My concern here is that you just make a 3D driving game using prebuilt driving mechanics and then just turn all the lights off besides squares on the side of the road. There isn't a lot of mechanics-learning here.

I think if you'd like to do this outside of a game engine, maybe using Python or some other scripting language, this could be approved. But probably not within Unity or Unreal (or any other 3D engine).

I can build it with python or even build it as a website, it won’t be realistic tho and be a lot closer to the original.

Yup. I think close to the original would be more interesting actually. The whole point of the original is that it created the illusion of 3D without actually using 3D rendering technologies.

Without any 3D models, of course

Sure. C and OpenGL would be great.
