  • Carlos Garcia - Proposal #02

    I would like to propose a remaster vignette inspired by Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest (1987). This project will modernize a slice of the iconic game in Unreal Engine 5, focusing on a reimagined:
    1. Simon Belmont: Sourced from the cover art and in-game sprite sheets, the goal is to create a highly detailed, rigged, and posed 3D character model with polished textures and materials.
    2. Environment: Sourced from the ruins of Dracula's castle (endgame), the goal is to create a moody, real-time modular environment evoking the game’s haunting gothic horror atmosphere.
    As a moonshot idea and potential add-on, giving motion to the remastered vignette would be great if time allows. Doing so by recreating an idle (or more) of Simon’s sprite sheet animations.

    This is actually two proposals in one. Can we do the background as Project #1 and character as character as Project #2?

    Both would be 10 pointers with CM: 1x.

      The overarching goal for Project 01 would be to remaster/imagine a still or moment from the game essentially (without gameplay), which I was hoping would add to the multiplier.
      In the proposal I separated it out into parts to provide references, goals, and technical specifications but ultimately to justify the potential points. So, a remastered/imagined still is a no go?

        I think its a great project. But the multiplier is 1 or less. 1 is a complex project and it goes down from there. This one is just a huge project...so huge that it deserves 20 points (10 for the character, 10 for the background). We could approve this as a single custom project for 20 points with a complexity multiplier of 1.

        That's just a lot of project before 2/4. If you get close to 2/4 and want to submit just the set or just the character and then do the other for project #2, let's do that.

          Oh I understand now! I believe I misunderstood how the complexity multiplier works and how the pitch/points for custom projects go. That works for me, I appreciate the clarification!

                I was able to get the character to a renderable state, but I couldn't quite get the vignette and overall polish of everything where I wanted to within a suitable timeframe. Had some fun, but calling this one in preparation for the next!
