Medium Close Up shot, Low Angle, Three shot. The director made this shot to make us know that Thornhill got caught surprised. We can see that Thornhill now has a limited range of motions because of these two guys blocking one of his sides Which gives us a sense of entrapment.

Composition, Direction, Motion. Thornhill was moving towards screen right while the other two guys are moving screen left, which shows that there is going to be a conflict that happens.

SS 1/500, F Stop- F8, ISO 200. The camera is like this to show that these three people are the main focus. It doesn't matter the location that they're in since the background is blurred just enough to tell what it is.

mise en scène. The attire that all of them are wearing makes it so that everyone is within the same theme. No one's supposed to stand out just yet. The environment focuses on Thornhill since he is still in the opening of the walkway, whereas the other two guys are more enclosed by the walls.

Full shot, Low Angle, Clean Single. The director put the shot like this to show that Thornhill is the main person in this scene, that he is fitting in quite well with his environment. But it also shows that he is still not in any power Because it seems like he is trapped in this room with the doors closed.

Composition, Direction, Motion. Thornhill isn't moving the screen left, which is a bit off putting, so that doesn't put the viewer at ease. The composition of the building lets us know that he is kind of trapped because there is no direction leading out there is only straight up and down walls.

SS 1/250, F Stop- F16, ISO 400. The camera is like this in this scene to show that Thornhill is one with the environment. He is not standing out too much, but the background is not blurred enough for it to be not distinctly put of place.

mise en scène. The building's layout shows he is more confined in his space than an open room. Where all the books and the walls are horizontal but there is no direction for him to lead out of the room.

Click image for larger version Name:	NNW_3.png Views:	0 Size:	899.7 KB ID:	5671
Medium-Closeup, Low Angle, Dirty Single. In this scene it shows that Thornhills emotions are more on display compared to his body. Along with he is not the only person in the scene, but he is the main focus of the scene considering the shot is a dirty single showing more of his face compared to the other character's faces which is more of. Just their hands within the shot and the activities that they are doing. This scene allows us to know that Thornhill is not in any power at all within this scene.

Composition, Direction, Motion. Thornhill is looking at screen right, which is usually more natural for us to look at, but it is letting us know that there is something wrong with this situation that is happening.

SS 1/500, F Stop- F16, ISO 200. The camera is like this to show that Thornhill is the main focus but along with that the alcohol that he is drinking is also. In focus compared to the hands of the other people in scene..

mise en scène. With this scene, the couch is the majority of the background, showing that nothing in the back really has much significance compared to what is happening in the. Foreground. But it also lets us know that he is trapped, that he can't really go anywhere.

Click image for larger version Name:	NNW_4.png Views:	0 Size:	836.7 KB ID:	5677
Master Shot, High Angle, Crowd Shot. The director wanted to show in this piece the new environment that Thornhill is going to be in, but also that Thornhill has no escape because it would either be going to the ocean or going into the forest.

Composition, Direction, Motion. The direction that the group of guys are going is towards screen left, which is a bit more awkward and a dangerous situation that is being insinuated. The composition of the piece also lets us know that they are trapped and that there is only one way to go and that is into the vehicle and staying on that road.

SS 1/250, F Stop- F8, ISO 600. The camera is like this to show us a little bit more of a new environment that we're going to be in. The also to show what the actions are within the scene. So it's not just the people, but you can see their environment. It is to put the main focus on the middle ground compared to what is in the foreground or the background?

mise en scène. The scene in general is very dark with the headlights of the back car are putting. Focus on the three people in the scene, showing that they are the main point. And the white vehicle is the other indicator to show that this is the destination that they are heading to.

Click image for larger version Name:	NNW_5.png Views:	0 Size:	958.8 KB ID:	5678
Medium Shot, Two Shot, Low Angle. In this shot, it's supposed to show that these two characters have a wide range to move around in. This allows the viewer to see that there are many people within the shot, but that they are not in focus. This is a low angle, showing that neither one are in power yet.

Composition, Direction, Motion. In this composition, the guy on the right is more confined into his space compared to Thornhill. Which means the other guy is more entrapped because he has less space to be able to move to.

SS 1/500, F Stop- F4, ISO 200. The camera is like this to emphasize the note and Thornhill's hand. But also to block out the background to show that yes, there is a lot of other people in the room, but they are not the main focus, they are just there to show that it is busy.

mise en scène. The other guy has a darker suit which shows that he works at the building that he is in. Considering everyone else in the background, even though they are blurred, you can see the attire that they are wearing so he blends in more whereas Thornhill doesn't blend in as much. Because he is wearing a lighter suit so you can tell he is there on business and not professionally working there.

Click image for larger version Name:	NNW_7.png Views:	0 Size:	1.08 MB ID:	5675
Establishing Shot, Clean Single, Overhead. The director made this establishing shot as well as an overhead shot because it wants to introduce new scene that Thornhill is going to be in. This also being a clean single, it allows the viewer to know that Thornhill is the only one that matters in this scene.

Composition, Direction, Motion. The direction in this scene is showing that there There is many places for Thornhill to go, but he chooses to go into the building. And with the composition of the building, it trains your eye to go towards the main entrance, where everywhere else is more of an accessory.

SS 1/250, F Stop- F16, ISO 200. The camera is like this to show that Everything is kind of important in this scene to the direction that Thornhill is taking, to the environment of where this is going to be taking place, that it this is going to be a main portion of a scene.

mise en scène. The building focuses your eye specifically on the main entrance that Thornhill is going so that you know this is going to be. Important because there are going to be a lot of people within this building. Everywhere else is more a of a rural area. The Blues within the scene and all the greens makes it seem like it's supposed to be very calming.

Click image for larger version Name:	NNW_8.png Views:	0 Size:	890.4 KB ID:	5673
Medium Shot, Low Angle, Two Shot. This shot shows that Thornhill really isn't in power but he wants to show that he is still being judged within the area that he's being in because of what he is doing. It wants to emphasize that what he is using is not what the standard is, which is why the other guy is looking at him. It also wants to show you that Thornhill has more movement and can walk around freely compared to some other scenes where he is more in an enclosed space.

Composition, Direction, Motion. The camera and the bodies are not moving in this. But the things that are moving are the heads of the characters where Thornhill is looking screen left, which is showing that he is. A bit more confused or screen right is what is more natural where The other guy is questioning what Thornhill is doing. Along with that, the composition shows that these people are far enough away from each other that they don't know each other or they're not on friendly terms, but close enough to be able to see what each other are doing.

SS 1/500, F Stop- F16, ISO 250. The camera in this scene focuses on the middle ground. Which is the mirror version of the other guy and Thornhill, where the foreground where the back of Thornhill is is blurred along with the background. Showing that that portion of them is not the main focus, but the mirrored portion of them are.

mise en scène. The details in this scene create a boundary between the characters, considering there is a line in between each mirror showing that they have their own respective places. Also the white shirts that are corresponding with both characters showing that this is what several people wear within this area. So this helps Thornhill blend in a lot more with his surroundings.

Click image for larger version Name:	NNW_9.png Views:	0 Size:	558.6 KB ID:	5674
Wide Shot, Low Angle, Two Shot. The wide shot shows that these two people are not on friendly terms. They are not associated with each other to be near. D Director wanted to give some suspense to this scene. As the two men are staring near each other, but they have a great distance between them.

Composition, Direction, Motion. Both the characters are looking towards each other from the opposite sides of the screen, so it shows that there is a small bit of conflict, but also that. They are not moving, so there is no distinct direction at the moment Whether they are actually. Going to interact or not.

SS 1/250, F Stop- F8, ISO 200 The reason the camera is like this is because everything is a little bit blurred, but you can still pick out that the two main characters are the main portion of this scene compared to the background.

mise en scène. The suits that the two guys are wearing are very similar, but the guy with the hat has a little bit of a darker suit where you can tell that they're supposed to be the bad guy. This guy has an open field around them, which means they can continue walking, keep going wherever they please where Thornhill has a fence and telephone poles on his side of the street, so he seems a little more trapped. And that there would be only one way to go, which would be towards the guy with the hat. The clothing is also a bit awkward in this scene considering they are basically in a wasteland but they are dressed for the big city, Meaning that they are not supposed to be here.

Click image for larger version Name:	NNW_10.png Views:	0 Size:	847.1 KB ID:	5672
Medium Full Shot, Crowd shot, Low Angle. This shot is to show the expressions and the body language of all the characters in the scene. The director wanted to show that everyone around Thornhill is a bit confused, but they're more or less calm where Thornhill is more stressed within the scene.

Composition, Direction, Motion. The characters and the emotion of them are looking to screen left, so it gives a sense of uneasiness but also a bit of confusion considering the way that all the people are standing.

SS 1/500, F Stop- F2, ISO 200 The reason why the camera settings were like this is so that the. Vector can show. That the people are the main focus and Thornhill is the main focus compared to the background where it's supposed to be less detailed.

mise en scène. In this scene the people all around Thornhill are wearing much different clothing than himself. Since he is in his suit, he's specifically placed out of order compared to the rest. This lets us know. That Thornhill's not supposed to be there.

Click image for larger version Name:	NNW_11.png Views:	0 Size:	650.6 KB ID:	5676
Medium Shot, Two Shot, Low angle. This shot is to help captivate that Thornhill has nowhere else to go because he is in a car and the only way for him to leave would be out on a busy street. It is also to help give the sense that neither the Cop or Thornhill are in power at the moment since both of them are being seen from the same view.

Composition, Direction, Motion. So far there is no technical movement on the screen direction, but there are characters facing a screen direction Which would be screen right, which is a little more comfortable for the viewers to comprehend, showing that there is no danger as of yet.

SS 1/250, F Stop- F4, ISO 200. The camera is like this to show that These two, the Cop and Thornhill, are the main characters within this scene, but also to limit the view to show that there is no room to go. The camera wants to emphasize that these two are the main focus. The car is blurred in the background, so those aren't really necessary for this scene other than to show where they are going.

mise en scène. With Thornhill in this scene having a Gray suit, he kind of blends in with the car where the cop is in a darker suit, but he kind of blends in with the background a little bit more, showing nothing is to important in this scene other than Thornhill being trapped.

      Shot 1:
Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_0583.jpg Views:	0 Size:	105.9 KB ID:	5645
Shot Size: Full Shot - A Full shot is used here to emphasize the body acting of the characters. This is a very tense moment, and Thornhill is reasonably uncomfortable.

Framing: Dirty Single - Interestingly, the shot here only shows the face of the driver, while the rest are turned away, though we are certainly not focused on the driver. This creates a sense of urgency as we are not able to stop and analyze they’re expressions as he is stuffed into the car.

Angle: High - The high shot gives us a sense of apprehension as Thornhill is forced into the car and away from the safety of his mundane life. Thornhill has no power here.

Screen Direction: The characters are moving away from the camera. In this shot we go from a close up to a full shot as Thornhill is plunged further into this dangerous situation. He also moves down the steps, descending into danger.

Composition: The green of the trees above is cutoff from Thornhill as he is pushed into the black car. He is leaving the safety of his life and being pushed into uncertainty. The doors on either side of the screen act as a cage and make the shot seem claustrophobic and trapped.

Motion: The camera stays still as Thorhnill walks away from it, showing that he is being taken away.

Camera Settings: The lens seems of average length as there is little or no distortion to speak of(15-35mm) The depth of field is deep and captures the background and foreground. Shutter speed is probably reasonably fast as the scene is well lit.

Mise en scene: The doors on either side of the screen pinch our characters and create a closed in feeling. While the shot itself is well lit, Thornhill is confined to the darkness on the bottom half of the shot, creating a sense of doom.

      Shot 2:
Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_0585.jpg Views:	0 Size:	122.3 KB ID:	5646
Shot Size: Establishing Shot- This is an establishing shot. We are being show a place that is just as unfamiliar to us as it is to the main character.

Framing: Insert - No characters are shown on screen. This creates a somewhat foreboding and isolated feeling. There is no movement except for the car and no one to greet us.

Angle: Low - The Low shot is used to create a sense of scale as the car moves closer to the house.

Screen Direction: The car drives away from the camera getting smaller and smaller as our protagonist is further separated and moved to an unfamiliar location. It moves slightly from left to right, diverging from the beaten path.

Composition: The blob of brown and gray in the middle of an otherwise natural scene makes the house feel a bit off putting. The shadow of the trees creates darkness and a sense of unease

Motion: The camera is stationary as the car moves deeper into the scene.

Camera Settings: The lens seems of average length and the background is only slightly exaggerated(15-35mm) The depth of field is very broad

Mise en scene: The framing of the trees and shadow put focus squarely on the house and car. The long path makes the car shrink further and further as it goes onward. The shadow of the trees show that we are entering a place of danger.

      Shot 3:
Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_0533.jpg Views:	0 Size:	66.0 KB ID:	5647
Shot Size: Medium Full Shot - A medium full shot gives us a good view of Van Dam’s body acting and shrouded expression. It feels uneasy and his body is quite stiff.

Framing: Single - The single shot here is imposing. The focus is centrally on Van-dam and all of his attention is on our protagonist.

Angle: Low - The low angle establishes that he is in complete power here. Thornhill is helpless.

Screen Direction: The character stays completely still in this shot as he addresses Thornhill which adds to the unease. We do not know him and neither does Thornhill. There’s no telling what he plans to do next.

Composition: The light placed directly behind Van-dam creates stark contrast. Light casts all around him but his face is still shrouded in darkness. We do not know him or his intention.

Motion: The camera stays still, locked onto him.

Camera Settings: The lens is likely on the short side of average because the shot is not particularly deep(15-20mm) The depth of field is on the deeper side and captured the middle ground better than the foreground or background. The shot is a bit dark here so the shutter speed is probably a bit slower than average.

Mise en scene: The table and props in front of Van-dam cutoff his hand and some of the space to his right. He could be holding something, but it is uncertain. It feels off putting. The office setting adds to the power dynamic.

      shot 4:
Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_0584.jpg Views:	0 Size:	73.0 KB ID:	5648
Shot Size: Medium Full - Medium full is used again to show the body and face acting of our characters. Thornhill is being scrutinized and his mental state is displayed through this shot.

Framing: Crowd shot -The crowd shot is used here to show that everyone is against Thornhill and doubt the validity of his claims.

Angle: Low - The low angle is used here to display vulnerability. Nobody is on his side

Screen Direction: There is very little movement in this shot. It serves to add to the tense air of the scene.

Composition: Thornhill is central in the shot here and he is completely surrounded on all sides by staring faces. It creates a trapped and scrutinized feeling.

Motion: The camera stays still in this scene which adds to the air of distrust.

Camera Settings: The lens seems of average length considering the medium depth of the shot(15-35mm) The depth of field is average and captures the background and foreground well. Shutter speed is probably slightly slower than in a similar outdoor shot.

Mise en scene: The room is cutoff on all sides by the characters surrounding Thornhill, and nobody is facing in the same direction as him. Nobody is on his side and there’s no easy way out, at least socially, at the moment.

      shot 5:
Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_0538.jpg Views:	0 Size:	113.7 KB ID:	5650
Shot Size: Establishing Shot - This location is very different from anywhere else we’ve been this far. Our character is very isolated and this extremely wide shot displays everything we need to know about this location.

Framing: Single - This shot seems to be entirely about isolating Thornhill, so it would make sense that the director chose to make this a single shot.

Angle: High - The high angle here shows that Thornhill is out of his depth.

Screen Direction: There is no character movement in this shot. Thornhill is waiting for someone he has no knowledge about. It creates a sense of apprehension.

Composition: The colors here are quite harsh and inhospitable. Our character could be getting into a very dangerous situation here, and is uncertain.

Motion: The camera stays still, locked onto Thornhill, maintaining the stagnant feeling.

Camera Settings: The lens is likely on the upper end of average length considering the lack of distortion(15-35mm) The depth of field is deep and captures the background and foreground. In an outside shot such as this, the shutter speed is probably quite fast.

Mise en scene: The open, stagnant landscape with a dirt road bisecting it is a very stark image. We are clearly in the middle of nowhere.

Shot Size: Medium Closeup - A medium closeup is used here to emphasize body acting while also highlighting an important prop, that being the matchbook.

Framing: Single - This shot is focused on Eva, and her reaction to the presence of the matchbook.

Angle: High - The high angle here is used to create a feeling of dispowerment and also emphasizes that she is being watched by Thornhill.

Screen Direction: There is no character movement in this shot. Eva is sitting still until she notices the matches.

Composition: The pale white of the matchbook stands out amongst the other wise drowned out warm browns and oranges of the scene. It is as obvious to us as it is to Eva.

Motion: The camera is focused on Eva and does not move. This makes the shot feel intense

Camera Settings: The lens is likely the upper end of average or even a bit more(30-45mm) The depth of field is a bit narrow and focuses on Eva and the matches. The shutter is likely a bit slow considering the slightly dark interior of the mansion.

Mise en scene: Are eyes are automatically drawn to the matchbook because of its position in the shot. It is not over shadowed by anything, and the gold ashtray it is in seems to highlight it.

Shot Size: Full - The full shot is used to place emphasis on the two characters interacting here. Their body language is very important considering the tense matter of the scene. The shot is not too far away for us to see the gun she is holding.

Framing: Double - This shot is a double as it revolves around the interaction between these two characters

Angle: Low - The low angle here creates an interesting dynamic of power and vulnerability.

Screen Direction: The characters are not moving through the shot. The stillness is part of what creates the tense feeling as we wonder if our protagonist has really been caught

Composition: There’s a great deal of negative space in the scene. With the gun pointed at him, there’s no quick action to disarm her, but he could still try to get away.

Motion: The camera is still in this scene and stays focused on the interaction between these two characters.

Camera Settings: The lens is likely of average length as nothing seems particularly distorted(15-35mm) The depth of field is deep and captures the background and foreground quite well create a sense of openness. The shutter speed is probably slower considering the darkness of the shot

Mise en scene: The scene is very open aside from the stair railing blocking off part of our view of Thornhill. This makes us wonder what he might do next to escape this ordeal.

Shot Size: Medium Closeup - The medium closeup shot here allows us to focus on Eva’s expressions while also showing off parts of the scene

Framing: Single - This shot is a clean single, allowing us to put out complete attention on Eva’s character beats.

Angle: Low - The slight low angle here is to show Eva as vulnerable. She is reconsidering her actions because of her feelings for Thornhill.

Screen Direction: We see Thornhill moving away from the camera through the mirror as Eva stays transfixed. She is fascinated by him and wonders if what she is doing is right.

Composition: The mirror allows us to focus on Eva’s face while also showing what is causing her expression. The red of her dress is stark in contrast to the grays and whites of the scene.

Motion: The camera stays still and focused on Eva. This is a scene not of action, but of introspection.

Camera Settings: The lens is likely of average length as nothing seems particularly distorted(15-35mm) The depth of field is deep allowing us to see Eva while also noticing Thornhill in the mirror further back in the shot. The shutter speed is probably a bit slower than it would be in an outside shot.

Mise en scene: The mirror is used very interestingly here to show the object of Eva’s focus. She is also closed in by the lamps to either side of her, perhaps showing that she is trapped on her path, despite her desire for Thornhill.

Shot Size : Medium - In this shot it shows Thornhill's secetarty with a prop and both Thornhill and her are in frame fully.
Shot Angle: Low - The camera is angled low making Thornhill have the most power in this shot.
Shot Framing: Crowd - Used to show how busy/chaotic Thornhill's life is at the start.

Shot Composition: There is a lot of light present however the main focus of the light is Thornhill and his secertary. This help the audience focus on them and extablish them as the main characters at this point in the story.

Directon: The end of a day of work. As he is moving toward the camera it is moving back with him and he is going stage left while the others are going stage right showing the difference in class or level in job from the others.
Motion: The camera is moving backwards away from Thornhill who is walking toward the camera. This is used to show Thornhill always Walking toward the camera emphazing he is in control.

Camera Settings: The lens is most likely a Standard lens/Normal lens,50mm. Since there is blur/distortion, the shutter speed is around 1/8 sec a medium value. The F-Stop is f/6 most likely since the focus is slightly blurry but still focused on Thorhill.

Mise en Scene :The lighting is coming from the elevator and some light to the right of the camera possibly the sun. This is enough to light Thornhill fully and have him clearly be the main point of focus with his secertary. The clothing people have on is all suites/work atire. This shows that it's the end of a day at work since people are leaving the elevator in a hurry.

Shot Size : Medium Close Up -This shot shows the audience the relationship Thornhill has with the other men he is meeting.
Shot Angle: High - The camera is angled High to show that Thornhill is the person of focus of the three men.
Shot Framing: 4 shot dirty - This shot is used to introduce the 3 men to Thornhill. Mostlikely used to also introduce the men to the audience.

Shot Composition: There is a normal amount light present with a slight shadow. The shadow is over the handshake emphazing the introduction.

Directon:On the vertical axis the direction is going down in a of beaten line showing Thornhills unease in the next shot.
Motion: The camera is moving toward the 3 men and then after moves down to settle into them talking to eachother as well as show the unease of Thornhill

Camera Settings: The lens is most likely a Standard lens/Normal lens,50mm. Since there is almost no blur/distortion, the shutter speed is around 1/30 sec a medium value. The F-Stop is f/6 most likely since the focus is slightly blurry but still focused on the men. Used to have the audience focus on the introduction of the 3 men.

Mise en Scene :The lighting is coming from the top right but is farily well lit. There are also shadows near the bottom of the shot which emphazie the handshake even more. The clothing they have on is work/fancy clothes. Used to show that the men mostlikely just got off of work and went straight to the bar to drink.

Shot Size : Medium - In this shot it shows Thornhill calling his mother with the officer. Used because he is holding the phone as a "prop".
Shot Angle: Low - The camera is angled low making the officer have the most power in this shot.
Shot Framing: Two dirty - Used to show how drunk Thornhill is.

Motion: The camera is still focused on Thornhill and the officer.

Camera Settings: The lens is most likely a Standard lens/Normal lens,60mm. Since there is no blur/distortion, the shutter speed is around 1/60 sec a high value. The F-Stop is f/16 most likely since the focus is on Thornhill and the officer but the background is not blured or distorted.

Mise en Scene :The lighting is coming from the left and has shadow is in the middle behind Thorhill showing his drunkness more clearly. The clothing he has on is his suite and the officer with his uniform. This shows the authority that the officer has.

                    1.
                    a) Shot Size: Medium Shot: The director chose this scene to be a medium shot so we could see the expression on the three guys's faces but also to show their relationship compared to our main character, Roger Thornhill.
                    b) Shot Framing: Over The Shoulder: Over the shoulder also shows the relationship between Thornhill and the group but on top of that, we can also see the two gentlemen in the background seemingly looking at the group and we know that in the next scene, they kidnap Thornhill, so it's used to show foreshadowing.
                    c) Shot Angle: Low Angle: A low angle is used to show how this meeting is likely something they need to discuss and come to an agreement about something. Something that Mr Thornhill needs from them.

                    2.
                    a) Composition: The color of the scene isn't very bright, it looks slightly dull, but the frame is big enough to show multiple of the characters. This was chosen because the location of the meeting was indoors at a fancy hotel restaurant and wouldn't have crazy lighting and it could be foreshadowing the following event of when he gets kidnapped, that is why it's a bit dim.
                    b) Direction: Thornhill is on SL of the scene and facing SR indicating that at this moment there isn't much distress, however, the characters in the back, are on SR facing SL indicating there will be something bad coming up. On top of that, there is DOF on the Z-Axis occurring in this scene as the characters in the back are quite smaller than the characters in the foreground.
                    c) Motion: This scene also has barely any movement as they are siting down and even the men in the background barely move. This was chosen because the director wanted the audience to focus on the conversation and the three men rather than the men in the background.

                    3.
                    a) Lenses: Wide Angle 15 -35 mm: This scene is between 15mm and 35mm because we can see all of the group and only half of Thornhill, but we can also see the background as the two men in there are important foreshadowing for the next scene of him being kidnapped.
                    b) Camera Settings: The shutter speed is likely 1/1000 - 1/900 because the image is quite clear. However, Thornhill and the characters in the background are blurry, so there is also a Tilt Shift while the three men are clear. The ISO is likely 700-900 as the lighting in the scene is bright enough to see the characters, but it also looks slightly dim. The F-Number is likely f-10 to f-16 as the characters in the middle are clearly seen and the characters in the background and foreground are only slightly blurry but not blurry enough to where they aren't important to the scene.

                    4.
                    a) Mise en Scène: The lighting is a little dim, possibly foreshadowing the next event. We can hear some of the background noise of the other guests, but we can mainly hear their conversation as their conversation is what is currently important to the scene rather than the background noise. Their attire is also very professional in suits to show the audience this is a work or professional meeting.

                    1.
                    a) Shot Size: Medium-Full shot "Cowboy Shot": This shot size was chosen to show that this man is currently the one in power in this scene.
                    b) Shot Framing: Single: This shot is a single shot because currently the only important information happening is what this man is saying and how he is establishing himself in the room, to Thornhill, and the audience.
                    c) Shot Angle: Low Angle: This shot is a Low Angle shot to also show the power he has over Thornhill, which does break the "rule" for low angle shots.

                    2.
                    a) Composition: The color of this scene is dark likely showing how Thornhill's outcome is bleak at the moment. The frame also shows the man but also the background, which tells the audience that Thornhill got kidnapped by a very rich man.
                    b) Direction: The man is going from SL to SR, indicating the situation isn't too dire, while the rest of the shot reflects how dangerous the situation currently is.
                    c) Motion: The camera also moves from SL to SR likely to follow the man as he is the most important part of this scene.

                    3.
                    a) Lenses: Wide Angle 15 mm - 35 mm: This is the average lens and this scene also looks average in terms of lenses. This was chosen because the background is still important in this scene so the director didn't want the background to collapse with the foreground since the audience needs to know that Thornhill is in someone else's home.
                    b) Camera Settings: The Shutter speed is likely 1/1000 -1/950 because the image is quite clear, and it was likely chosen like this to emphasize the importance of both the character and the background in this scene. The ISO is likely 200 - 400 because the scene is quite dim and not very bright to emphasize this man's power and to show that he's a bad guy at this moment. The F-Number is likely 8 - 10 because the foreground and the man are clear while the background is slightly blurry but not blurry enough to where the background is of unimportance to the scene. It was likely chosen to have a slightly blurry background to emphasize the importance of the man.

                    4.
                    a) Mise en Scène: This scene is very dimly lit, with the light only illuminating from the lamp behind him. This lighting choice defines his character as more dangerous or in power as it's not natural lighting and ends up making his figure look quite dark. The sound in this scene is also very quiet, with only him talking and judging Thornhill's appearance and how he believed he'd look. This is to again show his power and control in this scene as he can say whatever he wants and that his voice is the only audio that matters in this scene. His suit is also very dark likely telling the audience at this moment he's not a very good character.

                    1.
                    a) Shot Size: Medium shot: This was chosen as a medium shot because the audience needs to clearly see his facial expressions but also needs to clearly see the phone in his hand as he's taking a call with one of his kidnappers.
                    b) Shot Framing: Single: This shot is a single shot because the most important information being relayed here is Mr Thornhill on the call and is face of distress.
                    c) Shot Angle: High Angle: This is a High Angle Shot to show how vulnerable Mr Thornhill is and how he is nowhere in control in this situation.

                    2.
                    a) Composition: The color in this room is a very yellow tint with all the surroundings being yellow, this indicates that this scene is more cautious or worrying, especially since the audience understands that he's currently on a call with his kidnapper.
                    b) Direction: Mr Thornhill at this moment is extremely still, the director likely wanted him to remain still to show how he is frozen in fear because of this phone call and that he cannot do much in his situation.
                    c) Motion: The camera in this scene moves from right to left emphasizing the fact that this situation is out of the ordinary and dangerous.

                    3.
                    a) Lenses: this is likely a 15 mm to 35 mm lens because the background doesn't collapse with the foreground, and it was likely chosen to be this way because the audience is to take into account that his location is important to this scene. Him being in a hotel room that doesn't belong to him emphasizes his unfortunate situation.
                    b) Camera Settings: The Shutter Speed is likely 1/900 - 1/1000 because the image is clear in order to show the audience Mr Thornhill's expressions clearly. The ISO is likely 900 - 1000 because the room is well-lit, but it is also dim, likely because this scene is important for the audience to understand the basics of this situation but also to feel figuratively that the light on this situation is dim. The F-Number is likely high around 10 - 16 because both the background and Mr. Thornhill are important in this scene so both need to be clear. The background is a little less clear than Mr. Thornhill but that is because Mr. Thornhill and his expressions are what's most important in this scene.

                    4.
                    a) Mise en Scène: All we can hear in this scene is Mr Thornhill and his kidnapper on their phone call because that is the only important noise in this scene. Mr Thornhill also doesn't have his coat on and along with all the other aspects of this shot, shows his vulnerability in his situation.

                    1.
                    a) Shot Size: Wide Shot: This shot was chosen as a Wide Shot to show how small Mr. Thornhill is in this location, idicating that he has very little power in his situation and that Mr. Kapler, the man his kidnappers believe he is, has in a tremendous amount of power as this is the location he is supposedly at as well.
                    b) Shot Framing: Crowd: This was chosen as a crowd shot because the audience needs to understand that Mr Thornhill is beginning to get lost in his situation and literally lose the people that are chasing him.
                    c) Shot Angle: Low Angle: This is a low angle shot, despite not being able to see any expressions, it's to showcase how big this room is which then shows how small and vulnerable Mr. Thornhill is.

                    2.
                    a) Composition: The color of this image is also very yellow, indicating the caution and worry that Mr. Thornhill is feeling in this moment as we also see him constantly looking back for his kidnappers.
                    b) Direction: Mr. Thornhill is moving from SR to SL clearly indicating that his situation is dire and he is in danger.
                    c) Motion: The Camera is in a fixed location to clearly show how Mr. Thornhill is going from Right to Left and looking back. If the camera was moving, it may seem more like this was an active chase that everyone in the background could see, however, since it is not a moving camera, it gives the effect that this is a slower chase that isn't very noticeable to anyone else in the scene.

                    3.
                    a) Lenses: This is likely a 35 mm lens because it is essentially a landscape image and we need to see the entire stage for this scene as it is important in showing how small Mr Thornhill is in his situation and in this new location of being near the presence of the person the kidnappers believe him to be, which just goes to show how powerful Mr Kapler may be and how powerless Mr Thornhill currently is.
                    b) Camera Settings: The Shutter speed is likely 1/900 to 1/1000, as we can clearly see Mr. Thornhill despite the distance from the camera. The ISO is likely 1400 to 1600 as the room is quite well-lit everywhere. The F-Number is likely 16 because the background isn't blurry, and we can clearly see all the people, Mr. Thornhill, and the environment he's in. These were chosen so the audience has a clear view of the situation.

                    4.
                    a) Mise en Scène: The music in this scene is one of an upbeat chase scene, likely to emphasize how dire it is for Mr Thornhill to get away.

                    b) Shot Framing: Dirty Single: A Dirty Single was chosen likely because the environment is still at a huge meeting building so there are bound to be some people, but it was mainly chosen to single out Mr Thornhill and how he is bolting away from the building compared to the other people who are casually walking near it.
                    c) Shot Angle: Overhead Angle: An Overhead Angle was chosen to drastically portray his loss of control of his situation and to show how physically and figuratively small he is in his situation.

                    2.
                    a) Composition: There are a majority of yellows, blues, and greens in this shot likely indicating his confusion, worry, and possibly sadness about his situation.

                    c) Motion: The camera is in a fixed place to emphasize how fast Mr Thornhill is running away and also how only he is aware of his situation compared to the people casually walking near him.

                    3.
                    a) Lenses: This is likely a 15-35 mm as it is an environment shot and the background isn't collapsing in and Mr. Thornhill isn't close up, he is quite small in this shot. This was chosen to emphasize his signified size and power in his situation.
                    b) Camera Settings: The Shutter Speed is likely 1/125 to 1/500 as there is a little bit of blur but not much, this was likely chosen because the audience needs to see Mr. Thornhill running away, but the slight blur gives off that he's sprinting away and not just a simple jog. The ISO is likely 1600 to show the audience that it's daytime but also to somewhat blind the audience as we go from a somewhat bright scene to a bright scene. The F-Number is likely 16, as we can clearly see everything in the environment, including Mr Thornhill, and this was chosen because the director wanted to ensure the audience could clearly see everything in the scene.

                    4.
                    a) Mise en Scène: The Music is very upbeat and distressing music since he is now running away as everyone believes he killed Lester Townsed and was photographed holding the knife, this was chosen to emphasize the distressing and dire situation.

                    b) Shot Framing: Dirty Single: This was chosen as a dirty single because they are on a train so they aren't alone and cannot discuss their situations so bluntly but it's also to focus on the lady with the blonde hair.
                    c) Shot Angle: Neutral: This was chosen as a neutral shot because this character is currently unknown to us, she may have helped him earlier but now we are actually getting introduced to her, so the shot angle is a neutral shot to give it time to decide whether she is good or bad depending on how the story goes.

                    3.
                    a) Lenses: the lens is likely a 50 mm to 80 mm lens as the background is somewhat collapsing in on the character but not enough to where it's not identifiable. This was chosen to emphasize the importance of the character, compared to the background.
                    b) Camera Settings: The Shutter Speed is 1/900 to 1/1000 in order to ensure the character is clear. The ISO is likely 1600 or possibly higher in order to make this flirting scene feel floaty and dreamy. The F-Number is likely 3-6 because the background is quite blurry compared to the character. There is also likely a tilt shift to emphasize the focus on the lady and not on the background or the other lady in the background.

                    4.

However, their faces aren't shown as that isn't what's important, rather, what's important is that Mr. Thornhill is able to get away, even if it's not the way that was intended.
                    c) Shot Angle: Neutral: This was chosen as a Neutral shot to show that this moment isn't necessarily good or bad on Mr. Thornhills part as he was almost murdered and is attempting to get away even if it means he has to steal a car to do so.

                    4.
                    a) Mise en Scène: The music in this shot is a face-paced, suspenseful piece likely to emphasize the urgency of Mr. Thornhill and that wherever he may be going, it may not end well.

                    a) Shot Size: Medium Full: This was chosen as a "cowboy shot" to show that these two characters are quite powerful but also to show that one or both is hiding a weapon in their pockets or for the other man behind him, which we learn he does have a gun.
                    b) Shot Framing: POV: This was chosen as a POV shot to show how low Mr. Thornhill is at the moment and because he is spying on these men. It is also there to help the audience get into the moment of this scene and to truly feel like we are there spying on them.

                    2.
                    a) Composition: The lighting is overall bright in this scene, however, the one with the most power has a majority of the light so we are focusing on him, then the man on SL has quite a dark background which gives off that he is more suspicious (he has a gun behind him).
                    b) Direction: There is no movement from either party in this scene, likely to cause it to be more suspenseful to see what will happen along with them having a conversation with minimal movement.
                    c) Motion: The camera is moving slightly to emphasize the feeling of the POV shot as a human being peeking through a window cannot stay still.

                    3.
                    a) Lenses: This is likely a 15 mm - 35 mm as the background doesn't collapse on itself and is very noticeable in this scene, which goes to show how rich this man is, but it also clearly shows both these two important characters well within the background.
                    b) Camera Settings: The Shutter Speed is 1/1000, as there is no motion blur. The ISO is likely 800 - 900, as the shot is somewhat dim. The F-Number is 22, as we can clearly see everything within the scene. All these settings were chosen so the audience can see the scene is slightly suspenseful due to the dim lighting but also to clearly see the characters and the background of this shot.

                    4.
                    a) Mise en Scène: There is no music in this scene that could indicate and emphasize some eerily suspense along with all the other determinations for this shot. It also is likely so we can clearly hear this conversation and emphasize the importance of what happens in this scene.
