Instructions:
- Pick 1 one of the tennis serve references & download the associated videos.
- Upload the mp4 version to Syncsketch & label the key poses. Use the "video reference note guide" after you have labeled the poses yourself to check for any missing key poses.
- Create a new Maya project folder this assignment.
- Drag & drop the body mechanics rig & props Maya files into the "assets" folder.
- Drag & drop the mov version of the video reference into the "source images" or "movies" folder.
- Reference in the body mechanics rig & props into a new Maya scene.
- Go to the orthographic left view -> View -> Image Plane -> Import Movie -> Select the mov file.
- Move the image plane so it is behind the character from the orthographic left view.
- Attach the tennis racket to the character's hand.
- Place the racket in the character's hand.
- Select the wrist control and shift-select the racket model.
- Change the menu to "Animation" in the upper left hand corner.
- Go to Constrain -> Parent.
- The racket should follow the hand/arm now.
- Animate the key poses based on the video reference.
- No need to worry about the ball animation (yet).
- Start with the root control and work your way through the spine, feet, head, arms, etc.
- Upload an orthographic front & side view of your animation to a synsketch link, in addition to the analyzed video reference.
