  • Fall 2024 | NERF Gun: WIP 01_Block In

    Due before class (6:00pm): (10/24/24)

A "Work in Progress" (WIP) assignment in digital sculpting refers to an intermediate stage of a sculpting project where you present your ongoing work before reaching the final completed piece.

In a WIP assignment, you are required to share your progress, demonstrate your sculpting skills, and receive feedback from your instructors or peers to refine your work further.

This WIP serves as a foundational step in the asset creation process designed to assess your ability to accurately translate 2D concept art into 3D form through what we refer to as the Block-in process.

You will focus on creating all BASE GEOMETRY and form for the NERF Gun represented in the 2D concept art while maintaining alignment with proportions, silhouette, and overall aesthetic. NERF Guns are composed of several parts, these Primary Shapes are what I am looking for.

Include your name in the post!

Answer these questions: 1. Did you take time to research and learn about ZModeler with the extra time I gave you? 2. What is something you learned about ZModeler that I have not yet covered in class or that you want me to cover more in class?

    Deliverables:
    • An Image of your 2D Concept Art Reference (.png)
    • Turnaround Renders:
      • You are uploading your compiled Photoshop renders utilizing BPR from ZBrush posted directly inline of your UIW3D Forums post. (.png)
      • Minimum Views (Front, ¾ front, Side, ¾ Back views)

      1. yes, however, I spent less time in ZBrush actually practicing what I learned, 2. Nothing at the moment, any questions I had/ have are simply a matter of learning and trying for myself.

I spent some time around Zclassroom for more info on zmodeler, however there wasn't anything specific that was very helpful, and I wasn't able to learn anything new that we haven't already discussed.
