  • Fall 2024 | Golem WIP 03 Polish

    Due before class (6:00pm): (10/08/24)

A "Work in Progress" (WIP) assignment in digital sculpting refers to an intermediate stage of a sculpting project where you present your ongoing work before reaching the final completed piece.

In a WIP assignment, you are required to share your progress, demonstrate your sculpting skills, and receive feedback from your instructors or peers to refine your work further.

For this WIP I will assess your ability to create a production ready model readying the model for tertiary and final details. I will be looking for clean topology and polished Subtools. I will expect you to utilize all the techniques/tools covered in class for Organic and Hard Surface modeling now including ZRemesh / Subdivisions and Subdivision levels / Projecting.

Overall, we are moving our sculptures from a messy Dynamesh topology to a cleaner ZRemeshed topology that has been Subdivided and all the previous details projected on to it.

Include your name in the post!

Answer this question: What of my feedback, for GOLEM WIP 2, did you incorporate and work on for WIP 3? Be specific.

    Deliverables:
    • An Image of your 2D Concept Art Reference (.png)
    • Turnaround Renders:
      • You are uploading your compiled Photoshop renders utilizing BPR from ZBrush posted directly inline of your UIW3D Forums post. (.png)
      • Minimum Views (Front, ¾ front, Side, ¾ Back views)

I looked back on your notes for Dynamesh, and even a few other notes like the hard surface notes. I have been using dynamesh a lot and have been raising my resolution when even I found problems with low topology.

Based on the comment, the palm of the golem's hand doesn't read well, so I invested most of my time making more sense of it on WIP 03.

For WIP 3 I focused on rendering more of the soft spots mentioned in the feedback.

Jerry Rendon - I incorporated more time into my golem, as I was behind according to the feedback, however I am still not quite where I would like to be.

I took another look at the proportions and made the left arm smaller and shortened the shoulder a small amount. I also straightened out the legs.

                Shylynn Weeks-

I went and looked at more ways to model a rock and look at better examples of some hard surface modeling. I looked over my ref more to get more details in and bigger details I accidently left out. I'm Still going to work on my model more due to some crashes I experienced over the last few days.
