  • Rock Golem WIP #1 | Fall 2024

    Due before class (7:30am): (09/31/24)

A "Work in Progress" (WIP) assignment in digital sculpting refers to an intermediate stage of a sculpting project where you present your ongoing work before reaching the final completed piece.

In a WIP assignment, you are required to share your progress, demonstrate your sculpting skills, and receive feedback from your instructors or peers to refine your work further.

This WIP serves as a foundational step in the character creation process designed to assess your ability to accurately translate 2D concept art into 3D form through what we refer to as the Block-in process.

You will focus on creating well-defined geometry and form for all of the character elements represented in the 2D concept art while maintaining alignment with proportions, silhouette, and overall aesthetic.

Include your name in the post!

Answer this question: How much time did you spend on your Golem Block In?

    Deliverables:
    • An Image of your 2D Concept Art Reference (.png)
    • Turnaround Renders:
      • Minimum Views (Front, ¾ front, Side, ¾ Back views)

Ive spent my time working on my model last week Tuesday-Friday after class whenever i had time working in the 400 lab. I was going to continue working on it, but I had some tech issues with the tool file for my golem model.

I've spent whatever time I had last week working on this but I had to restart multiple times because I wasn't happy with the body. I also worked on this on the weekend and around 7 hours on monday.

while I wasn't setting a timer or logging time (great idea going forward), the time that I spent working on the project is close to something around 10 hours give or take.

Will begin tracking hours. Had to start over due to not liking the way my model was progressing. So this one is about 5 or 6 hours.

Here is my Golem so far. It doesn't have much too it, and the face looks too reptilian, but I didn't know how to fix it, so I left as it was.
