Grew up as the son of a blacksmith working with his father living under the rule of a weaker lord, and grew up working under his father; crafting blades for the local lords or tools for the townsfolk. They had a simple living and since their town was a good rest for travelers or merchants traveling to the capital Wilhelm grew up being able to meet a variety of people. This is how he started learning swordsmanship from soldiers or retired knights traveling through the town willing to teach him. Although his father was not too keen on the idea of him learning swordsmanship he willing to stop him and instead supported although somewhat hesitantly. He wasn't very talented with a sword, but was very determined to learn as much as he could. He would go many years like this, working with his father, learning about the realm, relentlessly training every day with a sword. He learned to stay diligent and focused working with his father. He gained skills from soldiers and warriors passing by, and many bruises from those same people. Unfortunately a group of raiders fleeing from the Emperors knights had come across the town and pillaged it for its resources. His father fought off assailants attacking his family, but was killed after enough had started attacking him. Wilhelm then picked up his father's sword and fended off a few of them when the knights arrived to scare off the raiders. Wilhelm was recognized as a someone worthy to possibly begin training as a soldier where he would choose to accept to help pay for his family's well being. After the battle, he chose to assist in clearing out debris for the other people, and before he would leave with the knights his mother would give him a sword his father had secretly crafted for him as a gift. He would travel to a larger town where he would live in the barracks of the castle and train as a knight. His experience in a smaller town kept him very humble and he was able to connect to many of the other soldiers due to hearing and learning about other cities and towns. He continues spending hours a day training to become stronger to protect those close to him, shown by the countless and bruises on his body and hands. He would continue this for many years, sending money and letters to his family every month or so and has experienced many battles that show on his face and body.

6. Narrative of how these helped form who the character is: Elias grew up in a noisy, poor home, which made him very independent and careful about trusting people. Living in the tough desert helped him learn to be strong. Because his childhood was full of arguments and stress, he now likes peace and quiet. Seattle, with its artsy but distant feel, matches how he wants to be around people but also stay unnoticed. His small, simple apartment reminds him of his past and helps him feel more real in his art. The big difference between his wild childhood and his quiet life now has shaped him into a quiet, deep-thinking person.

Azrael's early environment heavily influenced the way he thinks and acts now. In his mind, everything must be a certain way or it's wrong. Even the slightest deviation from what he was taught is enough to make him turn against anything. His way of being is extreme, but it's all he knows and finds it hard to look at other points of view because of it.

Ren is an Elaphocentaur, also know as deer folk. He grew up living in a forest where most other folk live. He grew up learning archery from his father, who protects their community and family. His mother taught him how to play his lyra, a handheld harp.

In his community, the Elaphocentaur fear the Night Howlers. He fears them as well after a close encounter with one who only barely chipped his ear as a child. He wishes to live in a place safe from Night Howlers. However, his community is allied with other folk, but enemies with sime predator folk. He believes he can like in a community where they all live united, yet still away from Night Howler.

He also has a large lightning scar along his left arm and left side of his back. He got this after being struck by lightning during a storm when he was 9 years old. Unfortunately this burned down his home aswell, but he uses his scar to tell stories that are similar but never the same.
