Sorry again for the cancelled class. Thank you for your understanding.
Assignment due IN CLASS on Wednesday Jan 22 (No class on Monday for Martin Luther King Jr Day):
PLEASE BRING TO CLASS a drawing that you drew.
I want you to have spent at least 2 hours on it, but you can do more if you want.
It must be in pencil or pen. No inkwash or watercolors.
It can be shaded, but only in pencil or pen.
It can be of whatever you want, but it must be representative, in that it must be of SOMETHING, so nothing abstract.
A figurative drawing is preferred, all things being equal. So basically a drawing of a human(oid,) but it's not necessary. Animal, plant, furniture, car, all fine. But it must be something that takes you at least two hours to draw.
So basically, if you're drawing a bowling ball, that's fine, but it better have an intricate design on it, AND/OR, it better be perfectly shaded, AND/OR, it better be the most geometrically accurately round ball with the most geometrically accurately placed finger holes I've ever seen.
HOWEVER: you MUST draw the WHOLE THING, where I can see all the edges of the thing you've drawn. If you're drawing a person, that means head to toe.
While it must be representative, it does NOT have to be realistic. It can be in whatever style you want it to be. Use reference if you want, be as accurate as you want, be as imaginative as you want, be as UNrealistic as you want, or be as much the opposite of any of those as you want.
BRING IT INTO CLASS.
Be prepared to have it questioned (for example, "why is Sonic wearing fishnet stockings"), but not critiqued ("what a strange decision to put Sonic in fishnet stockings.") You're not showing me something that you're expecting to be paid for or even liked by someone other than yourself, so you shouldn't be expected to expect being critiqued. But you SHOULD be expecting me and your classmates to see it, and maybe have questions.
If you have any questions on the assignment, please post them here so everyone can see the questions and answers.
