Job Description
The Character Modeler is an integral piece of the Marketing Art team at Machine Zone. You should be expert in Maya, Z-Brush, and Photoshop with a strong foundation in human anatomy, facial likeness and clothing. You must have hands on experience as a Character modeler with an understanding of best practice for creating character assets in a 3D, animated pipeline.
Skills & Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Model, texture, render, and rig 3D Characters in styles ranging from photorealistic to stylized
Improve 3D game assets for broader usage (e.g. re-model, topologize, and/or texture)
Work closely with the Creative team to design artwork for MZ' marketing campaigns
Successfully produce concurrent and competing projects in a fast-paced environment
REQUIREMENTS:
5 years as a 3D Artist in the game industry on AAA quality title or Cinematics team.
BA in Art/3D Computer Graphics or equivalent
Fluent in Maya, Zbrush, V-ray/M-ray (additional 3D Packages a plus)
Understanding of advanced character rigging techniques – IK/FK systems, blend shapes, Flexi-planes, nCloth, vertex weighting, etc.
Knowledge of best practice and techniques for working with 3D Characters in a video or cinematics pipeline
Expert in Photoshop and post production applications
Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and on schedule
Ability to effectively present ideas - both verbally and visually
Willingness to take constructive feedback and work in a team-oriented, collaborative setting
Flexibility to put in extra hours when necessary
