Based in Dallas area of TX, Nerd Kingdom is a well-funded, video game technology and research group, that cross pollinates disciplines in areas of technology, behavioral science, economics, and traditional game development. Nerd Kingdom is developing an engine and platform for creation and collaboration that leverages ambitious technology, in order to empower everyone from early modders, to sophisticated engineers. We aren’t just creating tools, we are focusing on how data flows through that engine in order to help us and the community create better experiences, as players and creators.
We are currently looking for a 3D Environment Artist to add to our creative team. If you are an artist with experience, we encourage you to apply!
What do you need for this position?
Minimum, college diploma program in graphic arts or equivalent
Video-game experience, preferred shipped title
Ability to communicate and realize an artistic vision
Knows traditional 3D modeling workflows (Max or Maya), of creating textures and materials compatible with rendering models, and of physically based rendering (PBR)
Mastery of next-gen production tools: ZBrush, xNormal, Quixel SUITE, Substance Designer/Painter (Albedo, Roughness, Normal, Spec, AO, etc.; prefer stylized asset creation in a PBR system)
Strong artistic foundation (understanding of color theory, composition and lighting)
Experience with production pipelines, knowledge of Jira or other project tracking software’s
Interest for RPGs, Survival, Exploration games and Stylized Sci Fi/Fantasy universes
Up to date on technical capabilities of next-generation mobile platforms
Interest in stylized graphical worlds
Strong knowledge of various visual domains (architecture, design, film, comics, games, etc.).
Open, curious and self-critical
Organized, efficient and independent
Motivated and passionate about video games
Ability to adapt and assume new responsibilities
What will you be doing?
Create props, hard surface models, flora, textures, and materials
Collaborate with the art and design teams to deliver assets and prefabs
Follow established art direction and style
Help maintain the high quality bar for the game
Ensure that assets meet the performance and memory requirements of the game engine and hardware
