  • HMS 02 - Sword | Final - 2024

    Sword | Final

Objective: Create two final renders of your sword model in both Unreal Engine and Unity. Your model should align closely with your reference images, both in form and texture. This assignment will assess your ability to model, texture, export, light, and render effectively across different platforms.
    Requirements:
    1. Model Creation in Maya:
      • Ensure your sword model is accurate and matches the reference images you gathered. Pay attention to proportions, details, and overall silhouette.
    2. Texturing in Substance Painter:
      • Export your sword model from Maya and import it into Substance Painter.
      • Apply textures that match your references. Focus on realism and attention to detail (e.g., metal sheen, wear, and tear).
      • Export textures from Substance Painter for use in Unreal Engine and Unity.
    3. Scene Setup in Unreal Engine:
      • Import your textures, and sword model into Unreal Engine.
      • Set up a three-point lighting system for your scene.
      • Ensure the lighting highlights the sword's details and textures effectively.
      • Take a high-quality render of the sword in Unreal.
    4. Scene Setup in Unity:
      • Import your textures, and sword model into Unity.
      • Set up a three-point lighting system for your scene.
      • Adjust lighting to ensure consistency and quality similar to the Unreal render.
      • Take a high-quality render of the sword in Unity.

    Submission Requirements:
    • Post your final rendered image from Unreal Engine.
    • Include a shared link to your project folder containing:
      • Unreal Engine project files (ZIP).
      • Unity project files (ZIP).
      • Maya project folder, including your sword model and textures and reference.

I don't know why It looks pitch black. I exported the textures from substance painter and did the hyper shade thing in unreal and it still looks like this. I uploaded both the unreal and the unity one since they look different.
