  • Exercise #2 2D Ball Bounce Loop

Write a quick summary about the timing+spacing of the two balls from last night's spacing study.

Post a GIF of your 2D ball bounce in place!

The key difference that I noticed between the basketball & the rubber ball was that the rubber ball bounces at a quicker rate than the basketball. The rubber ball also bounces a lot higher than the basketball does, which I'm assuming is due to the size differences between the balls.

One difference I noticed about the basketball and ping pong bounces was that the ping pong ball had faster timing when bouncing on the ground. Another difference I noticed was that there was less spacing for the ping pong ball bounce, having a more consistent pattern of movement than the basketball.

For my second part of the project I used a soccer ball with a similar trajectory. The spacing between the basketball to the soccer ball was very similar as they are similar sizes. The basketball does seem to slow down slightly quicker probably due to the weight of it.

I did a soccer and basketball. The timing and spacing of the basketball was a bit faster when it fell in the air, likely due to the heavier weight of the ball. The basketball also had slower timing when it bounced in the air because it bounced higher, and therefore took more time (and therefore frames) to hit the ground again.

The bounce from the first ball is different from the homework (soccer ball) because the first ball was smaller and therefore there is less spacing to the drop. The second is slower than the first ball due to weight and gravitational pull of it.

              my ball was a volleyball
the timing was faster because the ball wasn't as bouncy so it wasn't in the air as long.
the space in between would get bigger as it got reached the floor but in the air it was closer.

The basketball had slower bounces, and the size of the ball created greater spacing between each frame, compared to the tennis ball, which bounced much faster, had less space between each frame, and bounced several more times than the basketball.

                  Soccer Ball vs Basketball
                  Spacing:
When it reach the high peak of the bounce, the basketball have more spacing between the frames to hold it for a moment than the soccer ball.
                  Timing:
The timing of the soccer ball takes a moment to hold at the beginning longer than the basketball.

The difference between the bouncing balls was there timing and spacing, since the yellow one was smaller and made of rubber it was faster and bouncier, while the bigger heavier basket ball was a bit more slower.

                      -Comparison: Basketball v. Tennisball

-Timing: The most significant difference in time between the two that is observable is mostly defined by the weight of the balls. The basketball is much heavier than the tennisball, which results in a much more slow and weighted bounce in the basketball, with the tennis ball falling faster, bouncing higher, and achieving larger heights.

-Spacing: The space between the frames of both balls is always farther when falling right out of the hand, but before they impact the ground, with less after leaving the ground following a bounce.
