  • 'They Follow' Requirements

'They Follow' is a top-down style game with an orthographic style view of the map. You play as an individual in a night time forest being pursued by a number of monsters. You must reach a cabin before you are caught. Along your way you encounter obstacles, which if failed take away one of your three lives. For each life lost, the monsters speed up. There are consumables along the way that allow you to fill a "sprint" bar, which when full allows you a burst of speed for a short period of time. During this sprint the monsters following you maintain speed.

    MUST:

    - Have main level that is longer than it is wide
    - Player must be in perpetual motion, must be able to move forward, side to side, and jump (be it with arrow keys or WASD)
    - Player must be pursued by no less than two monsters and no more than five
    - Cabin at the end of level
    - The camera must be attached to the player in order to facilitate a sense of motion along the plane (this can be in either a strict orthographic style or in perspective with the camera following the playable character)
    - Must have consumables and a sprint bar
    - Must have at least three different obstacles
    - Must have lights in the scene, be it in the form of a moon, a flashlight, or a lantern
    - Must have the following UI elements: Number of lives, sprint bar, and if chosen: a timer, and a map at the bottom left or right corner
    - Must have the monsters pursue the player
    - Monsters are not affected by obstacles

    OPTIONAL:

    - Have a consumable that adds an extra life
    - If you have a carried light source, have it dim with each obstacle failure
    - Have a consumable that makes you invincible for a short amount of time
    - Have different types of monsters with different speeds

If you have any questions please contact me on the project discord server or via my school email.

    Best of luck!
