  • After effects with HD 1080

Whats the best way to handle HD footage in After effects? I want to export a file 1920x1080, but my computer cant even handle all that data from the image sequences.

You might not be able to view the final output; although you can do some test renders at Half Resolution to see how it all edits together, and then do a full-rez output at the end to turn in.

ok so it rendered fine. it looks like it only looks like that in after effects. now my renders are fine except for my miyagi clips, they're about a quarter of the size as the rest of the movie. I hope zipping this will bring my movie down considerably because my movie file is 9.21 gigs. and for some reason my song isn't playing throughout the movie. so I'll have to rerender. shitters!

are we supposed to plug in a certain data rate?

Render at Half Resolution. Animation codec. Shouldn't need a data rate.

If you use H.264, you'll probably need to use a fairly high data rate for 1920x1080 (maybe 6400 or so).

If your miyagi clips fit, it sounds like your composition is at 720x480 (it's unlikely you could rip the miyagi stuff to 1920x1080 unless you have the Blueray version of Karate Kid, and software that rips blueray discs). Make sure you can see your whole composition too, you might be so zoomed in that you're only seeing the center 720x480 segment of it.
