Character Design Concept

So i have an interesting idea/question. So lets say you were given the task of creating a deaf character. how would you communicate that the character was deaf in a little as possible. i mean like from just a picture could you tell that the they were deaf (of course that may prove almost impossible).

I've only put like 20 minutes into this and right now all i have come up with is to maybe give them bigger eyes.

would love to hear your guys thoughts about this. i figured at least its a cool exercise to think about.
