  • 2/17 Material Setup

    1. Bake normal maps, make sure there are no weird seams
    2. Bake color ID maps along hard separations of materials, using polygroups.
    3. Apply flat colors to the entire character.
    4. Show up ready with a bunch of real-world reference images for your character's face, skin, and the various fabrics/materials used in their costume.
    5. From Substance Source, gather as many materials relevant to your character as possible.
