1 - Story! Needs to make sense for why things are the way they are in your spaceship! Are these humans? Are they giant monsters? Was there a fight? Is the ship damaged and derelict?
2 - Refine your references! The references need to be in context to the story and your spaceship.
3 - Sketches! Draw some sketches for each element that you are going to be making.
Sketch of the wall and the shapes you will be using, sketches of how a panel opens is a great example.
Sketch of the floor. Is there a grate? What's underneath the grate? Pipes? Wires? Lights?
Sketch of the ceiling, are there cables? Is it angled? Will there be canisters? Lights?
Sketch (top down) of the layout of the planned hallway. How is it constructed?
Where will the source of light in the scene?
How will you make elements unique?
Take a picture of your sketches with your phone if you need to!
