  • Trim down XP services to increase performance

Here's a site that lists most of the Windows XP services and their descriptions so you can shut down the ones you don't need and make your compy faster.

PS, This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

Careful who you send that to, I can see some inexperienced user going and ending all of those processes and wondering why they can't do anything except run 2 or 3 programs... :p Several of those would be good left on... imo

if anyone from this forum is inexperienced enough to mess up their computer by turning off important services, then they should probably pick a new major.

Anyway, in the guy's descriptions he generally says stuff like, if you don't know if you need it or not, don't touch it.

Little things that run in the background while you are working.

Some of the services are things like IIS (server software) and MySQL (database software), which you really don't need, but if you turn them off you can screw up Microsoft Access.
