This is a bug in Maya 7 at some point you will encounter this problem. I've been using Maya 7 for five months, and now this deally starts acting up
Description: When yall insert your image in your image plane through the view port, problem begins if image inserted appears as scewed slanted through the persepective view. Others have tried to by pass this problem by using the image as a texture and applying it to a plane, but chances are (and its happened to me) that it may also not work and still appear scewed even as a texture on a plane.
Solution: ( Was Found on CGtalk).- you need to go to this directory
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\maya\7.0
you should see 3 folders and a file. that file is the Maya Environment File.
open the Maya Environment File in Wordpad or Notepad it should appear blank.
Add these two line of text and save it.
MAYA_NON_POWER_TWO_OFF = 1
MAYA_SLOW_DRAWPIXELS = 1
been modeling for a week since problem occured and it totally fixed it.
