    ok folks, I Im reall pist about this and I hope its just a bug, but when u make your blendshapes, DO NOT reasign textures to faces (in other words if your whole mesh is combined, you CANNOT go back and assign a different texture to those faces, you can however for the whole object), because apparently it makes you blendshapes null and void for some retarded reason.

    You don't want to reassign textures after blenshapes anyway; because then the texture assignment is downstream of the blendshapes. This would actually be the case if you were in Maya 7 or Maya 5.

    In general you always want to be completely done with Texturing/UV Mapping and then delete your history before you begin Extracting for blendshapes or rigging. otherwise you'llh ave texture problems and textures crawling across the surface of the object.
