  • Disney Terminates Traditional Animation

Who woulda thought we'd see the day when Disney would no longer be 2D? Here's the article: http://www.mouseplanet.com/david/dk030814.htm For some reason, I really feel bad for the 2nd guy listed out of the seven that didn't make the cut.

... this works better in this forum, so I'll move it. - MC

As for my position on this, I feel really bad.

Talking to several traditional animators at SIGGRAPH, they are actually saddened at the fact that this is happening. There are several techniques that are used in the tradiational sense that aren't practiced in the 3D world.

I'm sad to see this happen.

Looks like Home on the Range and Brother Bear are the last two for the Mouse House.

The sad thing is... its not really the animation that makes the movie amazingly good... its the story!!!! Sure the visuals make it better, but if its a lousy story, I pick apart the animation regardless.

      Obsolete?

That is why it so difficult to master a trade, because once you mastered the skill it becomes obsolete.
Life a butch, but what can you do about? Any hoot I feel bad for those guys, but life is not over!
