Senior Character Animator
Prerequisites:
· Should have either a degree or at least 4 years professional production experience.
· Demonstrates an understanding that the animator's main focus is the character's motion, staging and timing, for in-game and scripted sequences.
If coming from outside the game industry, new hires will be expected to learn/understand how game-play and real time issues can affect Character Animators; they will be expected to develop techniques to compensate for such limitations.
Requirements:
· 2-4 yrs. Cinematic/games production experience, 1–2 yrs. Feature film a big plus.
· 3-5 min Reel demonstrates a strong ability to consistently create convincing performances and characters with complex personalities.
· Ability to design a move tree for a single character.
· Consistently demonstrates an excellent sense of timing.
· Must be able to adapt to new technologies.
· Good English communication skills.
· Relocation to Coburg, Germany required.
Responsibilities:
· Brings life to characters in their project through available means, despite technology limitations.
· Supervises Character Animation team on a small project/ or assists Character Supervisor on a large franchise.
· Responsible for ensuring that all aspects of Animation pre-production are completed on a timely basis to a high standard.
· Creates an animation personality/style for a lead character in a character driven title.
· If project has facial animation, completes all necessary facial animation for at least one complete character or move tree in a film/game with nominal if any supervision.
· On a smaller project, completes motion trees for all character(s), object(s), or game area(s); on a larger project, for large sections of motion trees.
· Writes Animation portions of MDD; Documents animation processes.
· Responsible for creating in-game cinematics produced with our Sandbox editor.
· Supervises Junior Animators on their team to ensure that their characters are on model, personalities consistent.
· Responsible for Directing complex Motion Capture and/or Voice/ADR Sessions where Character Animation is involved.
All Character Animation Candidates must have a portfolio and reel that demonstrates:
· A strong artistic background, with numerous examples of life drawing
· Layout and/or character design
· The portfolio should focus on the human form and its movement.
· Strong understanding of classic animation principles and fundamentals (i.e.; Squash and Stretch, Staging, timing and Motion, anticipation, exaggeration, follow through, arcs and appeal.)
