  • Render particle skip?

Whenever I try to render out an emitter, the renderer always skips it and I get nothing but my objects. Does anyone know why this happens? Here is an example file that I'm trying to use.

    .

    I can't open your file
"The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is nothing without work."
    - Emile Zola (1840-1902)

I can read it on my Mac but not the PC. Don't worry about the file. When I create an emitter in a new file, and try to render it, Maya always skips the particle effect and doesn't render out. Does anyone know why I'm having this problem.

hope this helps...i'd like to see it when you are done

if you are using modeled objects for your particles:

          1.create an emitter
2.in the attribute aditor change the type to directional or whatever is appropriate
3.also change the min and max distance and speed and play around with the other settings as needed
4.create the object(s) to be emitted from the emitter
          5.select object(s) to be emitted
6.in the Outliner Ctrl Select the Particle 1 (so now you have the particle and the object(s) selected)
7.under dynamics menu set select Particles > instancer []
(this turns the particles emitted by the emitter into the object(s) you modeled)

If you are not using modeled objects then you will need to texture the particles
this tutorial should help with that:

"The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is nothing without work."
          - Emile Zola (1840-1902)

"Do, or do not. There is no try."
