This was sent to Alan Hashimoto, who forwarded it to me. This looks like a good opportunity; if you need help getting your reel on VHS or DVD, contact me ASAP.
Alias|Wavefront provided your contact information to me in response to
my request for a list of 3D and animation instructors. (Please share
this mail with other 3D instructors at your institution.)
I?m writing a book for Sybex entitled ?How to Get a Job in 3D and
Effects.? In the book, I attempt to demystify the 3D jobs market, and to
help newcomers understand what skills and experience are being sought in
the game, film and television industries.
A number of art directors and senior 3D artists in the industry have
agreed to critique student demo reels for this book, and a limited
number of reels, along with the art director critiques, will be included
on the accompanying DVD. This is a unique opportunity for students -- or
anyone with a reel of independently-produced 3D artwork or animation --
to have it evaluated by professionals in the industry. It?s also an
opportunity to have their reels distributed to the 10,000-plus artists
and HR managers who will read this book. Unfortunately, there?s little
time for me to complete the project:
The deadline for submission is May 16, so please encourage your students
to send their reels ASAP!
If you visit my web site, you?ll find submission information, forms, and
online surveys that will help me research this book:
I invite you to contact me with any questions, suggestions, or concerns.
Thank you for your help and your valuable time.
Sincerely,
Sean Wagstaff
